Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 25, 2026

Tech or Skip (techorskip.com) is a static site. There are no user accounts, no logins, and no server-side database — the site itself doesn't collect a database of visitor information. This policy explains the limited data that is processed, and what changes as the site grows.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like almost any web host, Cloudflare processes standard server logs to serve pages and keep the site secure — things like IP address, browser type, and requested URL. We don't have a separate analytics dashboard tied to this data; it's part of how the hosting infrastructure operates. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details on what they process.

Cookie-consent storage

When you dismiss the cookie notice banner, we save that choice in your browser's localStorage (not a cookie) so we don't show the banner again. This value never leaves your browser — it isn't sent to our server or any third party. See our cookie policy for the exact details.

Analytics

We may add a privacy-respecting, cookie-light analytics tool to understand which articles are useful, without building individual visitor profiles. TODO(owner): name the specific analytics tool here once one is chosen, and update this section with what it collects.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

We plan to run Google AdSense on this site. Once approved, AdSense and its partners may set third-party cookies or use similar technology to serve ads based on your visit to this and other sites, and, where permitted, to personalize which ads you see. You can see and adjust your ad personalization settings at Google Ads Settings, and read more about how Google uses this data at Google's advertising policy page. Where a visitor has not consented to personalized ads, only non-personalized ads (based on general context, not tracking) will be shown, subject to the consent mechanism in place at the time.

Affiliate links

Some articles contain affiliate links, clearly marked with a disclosure line at the top of the article. If you click through and buy something, the merchant may set its own cookie to track that the sale came from this site, and we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We don't control what those third-party merchants do with that data — check their own privacy policies. See our affiliate disclosure for how this works.

Your rights

Because we don't run accounts or a visitor database, there usually isn't much of "your data" held on our own systems to request. If you'd like to ask what we hold, or to request deletion, email contact@techorskip.com and we'll respond as best we can as a small team. If you're in the EU/UK, GDPR gives you rights over personal data processed by third parties like our host and, once active, our ad and analytics providers — we'll help point you in the right direction, but those requests are often best directed to the provider handling the data directly. The same applies to CCPA rights if you're a California resident. We are a small independent publisher, not a large data processor, and we'll be upfront if a request is outside what we can technically fulfill ourselves.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site adds analytics or advertising. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date at the top of this page.
