About Tech or Skip

Tech or Skip is a small, independent publication that answers one question about consumer tech: is this actually worth your money and time? We cover AI tools, apps and subscriptions, gadgets, and the privacy and scam issues that come with all of it.

Tech or Skip is an independent publication. It isn't owned by, sponsored by, or affiliated with any of the companies whose products it covers, and nothing here is written to please a vendor.

Who writes Tech or Skip

Tech or Skip is written and run by one person, not a team, credited throughout the site simply as Tech or Skip. Every verdict comes from documented research: official docs and pricing pages, changelogs, and published third-party tests, all cited directly in the article. There's no test lab and no editorial staff behind it, just one person doing the reading and making the call.

Our verdict system

Every review ends with one of three calls. The verdict comes first, not buried at the end.

USE

We'd spend the money ourselves.

WAIT

Close, but not quite there. A price drop, a missing feature, or a better alternative arriving soon might change the answer.

SKIP

We wouldn't bother, and we say why.

How we research

Our verdicts are built from evidence we can point to: official documentation and pricing pages, changelogs, published third-party lab testing, and patterns in real user reports. Every factual claim is attributed to a named source, and the sources are listed right in the article. Where credible sources disagree, we say so instead of picking the convenient number.

We don't invent benchmarks, and we don't dress up a spec sheet as hands-on experience. When an article includes our own testing, it says so explicitly. The verdict is always our own call, and we show the reasoning so you can check it.

Editorial independence

Verdicts are not for sale. No company can pay for a better USE/WAIT/SKIP call, and no advertiser or affiliate partner sees a review before it's published. The site isn't running ads or affiliate links yet. When it does, both will be clearly labeled, and neither will touch the verdict.
